Lentil & Rice Bowl

 A fantastic ethnic cuisine that is amazingly simple to prepare! Although lentils may not seem sexy, the protein and iron-rich legumes can increase your desire for sex. Anemia is more common in women than men, particularly during pregnancy and menopause. It's an illness that makes you fatigued, lethargic, and frequently disinterested in having sex since low iron levels are to blame. Cumin is thought to have aphrodisiac properties, particularly among Arabs who made a concoction of cumin, pepper, and honey to pique the libido. Zinc is another mineral that is abundant in cumin seeds and is known to enhance sperm production.

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup lentils (any variety, such as green or red lentils)
  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 2 tablespoons ghee or vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro leaves, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
  1. Rinse the lentils and rice separately under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large pot, heat the ghee or vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, and cook for an additional minute until aromatic.
  5. Add the ground coriander, turmeric powder, and red chili powder to the pot. Stir well to combine the spices with the onion mixture.
  6. Add the rinsed lentils and rice to the pot, along with 4 cups of water. Season with salt to taste.
  7. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot with a lid and simmer for about 20-25 minutes, or until the lentils and rice are cooked and tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  8. Once the lentils and rice are cooked, remove the pot from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
  9. Fluff the lentils and rice with a fork. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
  10. Serve the Indian-style lentil and rice bowl hot, garnished with freshly chopped cilantro leaves.
You can enjoy this lentil and rice bowl as is, or pair it with a side of yogurt, pickles, or chutney for added flavor. It makes for a satisfying and nourishing meal, packed with protein and aromatic Indian spices.
